In Jean Ferris’ Once Upon a Marigold, Ed (a troll) finds a boy in the woods. Chris, the boy, was in love with Marigold, a princess far away. Chris needed to know her so he started “p-mailing” her. P-mailing is like emailing, but with actual letters sent by plane. Then Chris found out a secret. He still wanted to know more about Marigold, so he started to work at the castle. Trust me, things were not easy there.
Queen Olympia was not sunshine and daisies. She was bad. Guess who has to stop her? Chris. Can he do it?
I loved this book because there’s action, comedy, love and adventure. It’s a book to read if you’re having a bad day. It will bring your spirit right back up.
This book counts for a plant in my class reading challenge, and as a number in Beth Fish Reads’ What’s in a Name 4 Challenge.

A Wrinkle in Time was a challenging book
In a Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle, three kids go to a planet named Camazotz. The three children, Meg, Calvin, and Charles, all get stuck in something called The Darkness. They face many dangers in Camazotz. Later, Charles gets stuck in IT, something that makes everyone act exactly the same. Doesn't that sound bad? You may think, why would you be there? But if you haven't seen your dad in forever, wouldn't you want to find him?
Yes, this is a book people would like if they like books about danger. This would be a good book for kids 9-14. This is a great book. Read it!
Time is my musical term book for Ms. Lutz's class challenge. And Wrinkle is my movement for the What's in a Name 4 Challenge.

A Long Way from Chicago by Richard Peck: Place
In A Long Way from Chicago, two kids named Mary Alice and Joey spend some summers with their colorful grandmother. You know if something is sour or sweet but with grandma you just can't figure it out. Every summer is a different chapter. Through each everyone learns not to mess with grandma. Like in one chapter: One Woman Crime Wave, grandma takes the kids fishing in an illegal area. It’s for a good cause. She’s been feeding a woman that thinks she’s her maid, even though she’s not anymore. It’s really nice, because the book happens during the Depression, and lots of people are hungry, but grandma won’t let anyone starve.
See? Grandma is sour and sweet.
I read this book for my class reading challenge.

GODDESS GIRLS: ARTEMIS THE BRAVE
In this book, ARTEMIS THE BRAVE, Artemis falls in love with a boy named Orion. Artemis always takes Orion’s side even though he was just a phony. Like at a archery contest with Apollo Artemis loses because Orion takes her arrows she got for her birthday. She notices what he’s doing and she wants to get revenge.
Orion was a main character in a play called “The Arrow.” One week before the play Orion leaves the school for a different part on Earth. When he leaves the lead role is played Dionysus, the star in many other plays. Orion comes back to MOA (Mount Olympus Academy) to be in the play. Zeus says no way boy I have a special job for you. I hope he wasn’t afraid of heights because he had seven stars hanging his arms and legs and they hooked him up to wires swinging down from the ceiling at the end. He always wanted to be a star.
I liked this book because it was funny. I liked the way they described the characters also. They made me feel like I was actually in MOA. Even when I was tired, I didn’t want to stop reading. I was excited to read this book because Artemis is my favorite goddesses. She wasn’t really how I thought she would be, but it was still a good book.

Olive's Ocean is a good book
Olive's Ocean is a good book because of the plot.Olive is a girl who wants to be friends with Martha Boyle. She says so in her diary. But Olive dies in a car accident before she can tell Martha. Olive's mom finds the diary and gives Martha the page with her name on it. After she sees the page, Martha goes on a vacation to her grandmother's house. While she's there, she sees a boy named Jimmy Manning, her old rival. While she sees him there she begins to like him, more and more each day.
Martha begins to wonder if she should tell anyone about the paper that Olive's mom gave her, but she never does tell anyone. For the whole summer, she thinks about Olive. She couldn't change what happened, but she thought she could make things better. Olive always wanted to go to the ocean, but she couldn't go, so Martha brought a jar of ocean back home for Olive's mother. Olive also wanted to be a writer, so Martha wrote a novel based on Olive. So she tried to make Olive's dreams come true.
In the end, Martha rides home and brings the jar of water, and writes the beginning of her novel. But Olive's mother doesn't live in the same place when she arrives home. But even though Martha couldn't give the water to Olive's mom, she still did a nice thing by thinking about someone else. And Olive's diary helped Martha decide what she wanted to be when she grew up.
